Geekdad Tabletop Experience

We are pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with the fine folks at to bring tabletop and card gaming to SFGE for a second year in a row. Longtime supporters of tabletop designers and their gaming projects, GeekDad is bringing their expertise in gaming to Atlanta to make sure we roll a natural 20 and deliver a fun time for all. Drop by our tabletop gaming area and check out some great board games for you and your friends to enjoy. Learn new games through live demos from various vendors. Meet some of your favorite game designers and learn tips and tricks of the trade from them in our seminars. Heck, you even have the chance to play and win some of your favorite games to take home! Check out just some of what we have in store for 2017:

The SFGE Game Library continues to grow. We currently label it as GINORMOUS. Come check it out yourself. Games are free to checkout with paid admission. The staff in the tabletop area can assist with game checkout and offer recommendations. Dominion, Settlers of Catan, 7 Wonders, CarcassonneMunchkin and countless others are all ready to be played at #SFGE2017.

We are proud to welcome a great collection of tabletop developers to #SFGE2016. Our 2016 Tabletop Guest of Honor is a bestselling, award-winning, cartoonist, game designer and writer. You may know him from popular games Apples to Apples and Munchkin. We are excited to welcome the artistic talent behind those hugely successful games and many more, John Kovalic. John will be joined by a host of other game designers like Drinking Quest creator Jason Anarchy, Control creator Kyle Key and Flash Point: Fire Rescue creator Kevin Lanzing. Additional tabletop guests include Tom Butler, David A. Lupo, Rich Zeglovitch, Will Kenyon, and Mattox Shuler. All of our guests are on a panel or two and many can be found demoing their game at the show.

We plan to run game demos ALL WEEKEND LONG. We are looking for Game Masters to signup to host demos. Players can signup to play demos on site.

Over 40 “Play and Win” games will be available during #SFGE2016 in our tabletop area. Each time you play a “Play and Win” game, you will be entered into a drawing to win that game. You will also be able to check out our library copies (if available) on a first come, first served basis and play those in order to to get entries into the drawing! The “Play and Win” drawings will be on Sunday at 1pm (tentative). You do not have to be present to win but you must pick up your game from the convention, no games will be mailed. Check out our current “Play and Win” list.

That’s right you may be at the con but you can still get your magic on. FNM invades #SFGE2016. Details about FNM will be available soon. Check in at the tabletop area.

Need to take a break from tabletop gaming? Our solution is easy. Simply drop by one of our tabletop related movie screenings. This year we are screening The Next Great American Game, Going Cardboard: A Board Game Documentary, and Who Did It? The Clue VCR Game. Check out our movie schedule for information about these great flicks.

We will be also accepting volunteers in our Tabletop area. You can assist with game check-in/check-out and coordination of our demo tables. Just complete the volunteer form on that page. The number of hours you volunteer determine your free pass options.

If you are a game company interested in showcasing your new release, let us know through our contact us page.

We hope you are as excited as we are for the expanded programming here at the Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo!
